Tripadvisor’s 25 best beaches in the world to visit on holiday

Some of the world’s most stunning beaches are right here in the US, in Florida, Georgia and Hawaii, according to a new list from Tripadvisor.

The list, released on Tuesday as part of the Travelers’ Choice Awards, breaks down the online travel platform’s top 25 best beaches in the world, including what makes each one special. Some destinations have clear water and black sand, while others are hidden behind thick forests with breathtaking cliff sides. Three of the beaches are stateside, with the remaining 22 in far-flung destinations such as Aruba, Greece, Iceland and Tanzania.

“So whether you’re looking to pack a windbreaker or a bathing suit, our list has something for a wide range of travelers — and may even convince the most ardent beach skeptics to embrace some time on the sand,” Tripadvisor Editor-in-Chief Sarah Firshein said in a statement Tuesday.

The Tripadvisor list lands just as experts predict this year will feature travelers vacationing in not-so-typical places. Travelers in 2023 have enjoyed vacations in places like Princeville in Kauai, Hawaii and Kefalonia, Greece, according to a joint study by Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo. In the United States, travelers show interest in cities such as Missoula, Montana; Oneonta, New York; Nampa, Idaho and Bristol, Rhode Island, the study found.

2. Eagle Beach in Eagle Beach, Aruba
3. Cable Beach in Broome, Australia
4. Reynisfjara beach in Vik, Iceland
5. Grace Bay Beach in Grace Bay, Providenciales in Turks and Caicos
6. Praia da Falesia in Olhos de Agua, Portugal
7. Radhanagar Beach in Havelock Island, Andaman
8. Spiaggia dei Conigli in Lampedusa, Italy
9. Varadero Beach in Varadero, Cuba
10. Ka’anapali Beach in Lahaina, Hawaii
11. Siesta Beach in Siesta Key, Florida
12. Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island, Georgia
13. Manly Beach in Sydney, Australia
14. Seven Mile Beach on the Grand Cayman Islands
15. La Concha beach in Donostia, Spain
16. Kelingking Beach in Nusa Penida, Bali
17. Playa de Muro beach in Playa de Muro, Spain
18. Playa Manuel Antonio in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica

Tripadvisor has also released its list of the top 10 beaches in the US:

3. Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island, Georgia
4. Hanalei Beach in Kauai, Hawaii
5. Ho’okipa Beach Park in Maui, Hawaii
6. Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, Florida
7. Cannon Beach in Cannon Beach, Oregon
8. Coronado Beach in Coronado, California
9. Ogunquit Beach in Ogunquit, Maine
10. La Jolla Cove in La Jolla, California

Tripadvisor built its list based on the millions of reviews that travelers submitted to its site last year.

“Private beach that never seems to end,” wrote one traveler about Siesta Beach in Florida. “A photographer’s dream. A place in the sun that guarantees to return again and again.“

Another traveler raved about Cuba’s Varadero beach, calling it “postcard perfect.”

“The water was the windiest I’ve ever seen and the sand was powder white,” said the reviewer.
